Behold The Legacy Of A Timeless Classic With Tron Legacy

By Jeffry E. Swopes

Tron Legacy is one of several Disney productions in the past few years to be presented in 3D film format. The film casts Jeff Bridges as well as a number of other Disney film favorites. The film is a sequel to the 1982 Disney production Tron.

Tron Legacy was a perfect choice for 3D as it takes place in a living video game through which a man and his companion have to search for his missing father. The father, who was at one time one of the world's greatest videogame designers, has been locked in a world of his own creation for twenty years.

This science fiction film offers plenty of action and out of this world scenery to make it a hit in the 3D film universe. Other big players in the science fiction world include films like Avatar, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows movie, and The Last Airbender. 3D is an incredibly popular method of marketing science fiction films to a wider audience. Many people will go to see a 3D movie because they enjoy the special effects, regardless of any interest in the plot. The truth is that 3D has reached a point where the technology is much more affordable and effective, so it can be used to draw enormous crowds.

Though productions filmed in this special format like Tron Legacy were around a long time before the 2000's, 21st century technology has greatly improved the century old concept. Nearly every major science fiction film is being shown in 3D, so Tron Legacy's light discs won't be the last things you see jumping out at you. Some of the very first 3D theatrical releases were put out by Disney Studios beginning in the 1950s.

Disney today produces many of the 3D films that hit the theaters. Almost every major Disney movie released since the early 2000s has been available in 3D. These films are not the course, low quality films of the 1950s either. These films are enhanced with cutting edge digital technology in order to make the experience one that viewers will not easily forget.

Technology continues to advance in the world of 3D animation and film. 3D television sets and video game consoles are already available to be enjoyed in your very own home. The existence of 3D is expected to become even more common place. One day all films, in every genre, may be produced with some version of this technology.
