How to Copy Wii Games: An In-Depth Instruction Manual

By Gentri King

Lately, I've been accosted on the street by readers who recognized me and wished me to write a guide concerning the exact steps that it takes to learn how to backup Wii games. I was afraid that eventually, one of them would bring harm to my physical (and quite attractive) body. So, to prevent that eventuality, I've put together this guide today for your reading enjoyment.

Now, in years past, you had to put in a mod chip in order to play ripped games. I wrote about mod chips previously, in this post. Essentially, a mod chip is a special type of computer chip that you have to install inside your Wii console. This involves breaking open your own Wii, which unfortunately voids your warranty.

Now, no mod of the Wii itself is required. Instead, you can simply utilize some rockin' software which allows you to strip the encryption off of the games - essentially modding the games instead of the console!

So, before I get in trouble for being too wordy, here are the instructions:

Step Numero Uno:

Get a hold of the application, and save the executable file on your computer's desktop. The exact same file is fine on either a Mac or pc. I believe they are actively developing a package for Linux.

Two:

Install that bad boy. This isn't difficult if you've ever installed a program on a computer before. Just double-click the executable, and take all of the defaults. It'll take about 5 minutes, and will let you know when it's done.

STEP 3

Think carefully about which your fave game is that you would like to backup first. Take it out of it's case. While holding it in your hand, move your arm toward your CD or DVD burner on your PC. Insert that bad boy.

Four:

Start the game clone program that you just installed. (Simply double click the icon within the desktop)

Step Numero Cinco:

This step is where the main difference comes in versus trying to copy games with ordinary CD burning software like Windows Media Player or Roxio. You need to "rip" the game disc. Select the selection in the game copy software to extract, and then decide where you want to store the file. I suggest only using the desktop again. Next hit "Start".

STEP 6

Copy complete. Right? Now, I need you to get your keys and get in your car. Go to the nearest electronics store and purchase a pack of the best blank CDs or DVDs that you can afford. Drive back. Pop open a soda. Ok, now, remove the Wii game from your PC's burner drive. Insert the blank disc. Within the game copy application, go into "write" mode. Start the burn.

Step Numero Siete:

Now, chill out for a few. The burn will take about 10 minutes. The game copier will play some corny music when the burn is complete. If your speakers are turned up loud, it will scare you. Just a warning. Anyway, when it's done, remove the disc from the drive and put it into your Wii. If everything went correctly, it should play at this point!

Which means that you now don't have to be a computer hardware hacker or even void your warranty just to back up games as is your legitimate right. Simply just adhere to these instructions, and you will be fine!
